Self Reflection Part 2

As mentioned in a previous blog, self reflection is something I’m not very good at, but trying to work on. As we are now in April, the first quarter of the year is done, so it feels like the perfect time to look back at what I've achieved so far, and what my goals are for the next quarter.
One of my big goals for the start of 2023 was to work with more kids. There are multiple reasons for this, our main purpose Team Peak is to help serve as many people as possible, which is why all members get free kids care. Another reason is that a lot of the issues we see in adults are often things that started in childhood, so working directly with kids gives me a fantastic opportunity to see some of the things that should only be present in children or babies, but also to make sure the kids get the healthiest start possible for their future. It has also helped me improve how I communicate with my adult clients. It's still important that the kids understand what's going on, and how the adjustments work, but often needs to be explained in a different way compared to an adult. Learning to communicate this with young children has made it a lot easier to explain it to adults too.
Another goal was to continue to develop myself and improve my mental health. Our mind and physical bodies aren't separate, and each affects the other. I get adjusted twice a week for my physical health, and I see a therapist once a week for my mental health. It's not an easy journey, I've learned a lot of things about myself in the last few months, and there's still a very long way to go. But even though some days have been tough, every second of it has been worth it, and I'm excited for what the future holds.
One personal goal was to read 40 books this year, not including any self development style books I read for work. This means I needed to average 10 books a quarter. I'm a little behind on this one so far, as I've only finished 6 books this year. I do have three on the go, so another week and i’ll be on 9, but it still leaves me a little shy for the quarter. One reason I set 40 for the year and not 10 per quarter as the goal is because, like most people, I hate failing. I'm behind schedule, but I have more than enough time to catch up and still be able to hit the goal for the year, so I don't beat myself up about being behind.
There's been a lot of other changes in my personal life so far this year too, so I am very happy with the progress I've made despite that. It's been a fantastic start to the year, and I'm very excited to keep pushing myself and seeing what else is in store!
