Life Doesn't Stay The Same So Why Should Your Health Care?

One question i get asked all the time by clients is ‘do I have to keep coming to see you for the rest of my life?’. It's an interesting question, and there's not one simple answer to it.
If I had my way, then yes. I'd see you, and your whole family, every week, until you do. That is a simple answer. But it's not normally the answer people want to hear.
Most people want to get the best results they can, with as little care as possible. However, they don't do anything themselves to justify them receiving as little care as possible.
Every week I get asked ‘what exercises can I do to help’. None. There is no magic exercise that's going to fix 30 years of lower back pain. And normally, the person has already tried multiple exercises with little success, so I'm always confused as to why they want more.
I've come to realise that people don't want more exercises. They want something cheap and quick that requires almost no lifestyle changes.
So, my answer to the question ‘do I have to keep coming to see you for the rest of my life?’ is, it depends on what other things you're doing to improve your health.
Client A: Eats Pot Noodles for lunch every day, has a takeaway twice a week, eats a whole bar of chocolate each evening. They drink coffee and energy drinks to get them through the day, then a few beers each evening. They smoke. They get 5 hours of broken sleep each night. They work a desk job, and don't exercise regularly.
Client B: Eats a healthy balanced diet, and mostly drinks water. They regularly get 8 hours of sleep. They go to the gym 3x week and walk 10,000 steps every day. They also take multiple supplements and work with a life coach to improve all areas of their life in their control.
Who's going to need to see me more? The answer should very obviously be Client A. But if Client A made lots of lifestyle changes similar to Client B, they'd be in much better health, and therefore would require less external health care.
As your lifestyle changes, so do your health needs. And it works both ways. For someone that already follows a healthy active lifestyle, they may be coming to see us twice a month for maintenance. But if that person starts training for a big event like a triathlon, or they get injured, then their health needs will be different. Even though they are already pretty healthy, they will require more external support to get through that period of increased stress.
This is why we offer memberships with different frequencies of care. Your needs will change throughout your life. We are here to support you in the best way possible for whatever your needs are at any given point. But you are also responsible for a lof of the stresses in your lifestyle. So if you want to be able to see us less often, then take charge of your own health and make the necessary lifestyle changes to improve the areas of your health you can control.
