Self-development is something we all strive for here at Team Peak. Not just for ourselves, but for our clients, our family, our friends. We want everyone around us to be the best version of themselves, because we all deserve to live that way.
Unfortunately, all too often we see new clients not wanting to or not ready to invest in themselves. (Check out Mason’s recent blog: The fear of unfulfilled potential). But how can we ask our clients to invest in themselves, if we don’t do it ourselves.
I’ve recently started seeing a therapist once a week to work on some areas of my childhood that are still causing me issues to this day. It’s something I tried working through as a teenager, but did not have access to the correct resources, so I stopped. The ‘everything’s fine’ mentality will only get you so far. Everything is fine, until it’s not.
When I started this journey, I was expecting to have a really shit time. I was expecting to struggle at work, struggle in my relationships, just to be miserable in general until I got through the otherside. Whilst it’s not an easy journey, and far from over, I’ve actually experienced the opposite.
Since I’ve started investing in myself, my clients have started investing in themselves, and their loved ones, even more.
This week alone I’ve seen some really amazing things that have changed clients' lives for the better, because they're willing to take that first step.
I have a client that will be travelling up from Warwickshire each week to work with me, because she loves what we stand for and wants to be part of that journey.
I have a client who lives in West Sussex, and came to us whilst visiting family. Knowing that she’d need to space her visits slightly differently to accommodate this, she came in FIVE times in one week, and will be doing the same when she's next in the area, as she still wants to get the best out of her care. She also booked in her mum’s entire chapter one care plan too, as she wants her family to have the best chance possible at improving their health.
I’ve also had someone move their report of findings session forwards, as they knew they’d need to be in twice a week, and wanted to get as many sessions in as possible before they go on holiday.
Invest in yourself and others will follow. It can only make your life better.
